Description

A peculiar polar-ring galaxy, NGC 660. The complex structure of NGC 660 is believed to be a result of violent interaction between two galaxies that occurred around a billion years ago forming a prominent star-forming ring. The prominent warp in the plane of the ring is probably due to the tidal interaction with the nearby galaxy UGC 1195 seen in the wide-field image (Version C). The image is a combination of LRGB data taken over several nights in October 2021 with the 250mm f/4 Lacerta Photonewton and ZWO ASI294MM Pro camera. The luminance image is a combination  of a series of 300s and 90s exposures taken at camera gain 0 and 108. The RGB color data is comprised of 180s and 300s (R) exposures taken at gain 108.

L: 56x300s (Gain 0, bin 1x1) and 77x90s (Gain 108, bin 1x1)
R: 35x180s (Gain 108, bin 1x1) and 8x300s (Gain 108, bin 1x1)
G: 38x180s (Gain 108, bin 1x1)
B: 40x180s (Gain 108, bin 1x1)
Total exposure: 12.9 hours
